Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, September 3-9, Venues around Melbourne
This year the City of Melbourne has put together a diverse range of events and experiences throughout the heart of Melbourne to celebrate the city and its fashion. Events during fashion week include runways shows, exhibitions, workshop and activities, parties, openings, business seminars and vocational programs.
This weekend in particular there are a number of feature events at some of Melbourne most iconic landmarks. Events include:
City Square Runway Shows – throughout MSFW City Square has been turned into a fashion hub with a feature runway show each day. This Saturday features the latest Spring/Summer collection from Target. 12 noon, FREE.
Also on this Saturday, Zsaneta Couture will showcase her Spring/Summer 2013 collection on the steps of Parliament House. The show will feature 8 models and will be filmed as part of MSFW short film for 2012. 2pm, FREE.
ST-AR founders Stasie Piper and Aron Katona present Earth Candy this Saturday at Spice Market. A show where emerging and established designers collaborate with local indigenous communities to feature indigenous art, fashion and culture. 5-8pm, $25 entry, check website for ticket details www.thatsmelbourne.com.au/www.spicemarket.net.au
On Sunday, the North Melbourne Market and Thread Den will be staging a series of runway shows at the House of Angus Fashion Theatre between 2-3pm. These shows will feature upcoming designers such as Keep me Cute, Banana Wednesday, Lucy Hall, Lee Wade and Nymph. Lithuanian Club, Errol street, FREE.
Finally, Worn Wild is an alternatives designer market featuring underground designers and select interstate designers. Sub-culture’s influence this diverse range of designers. This Sunday 12-2pm at the Queensbury Hotel, Swanston Street.
